My Many Colored Days

A few weeks ago, we were fortunate to have some Music Education students from the University of Southern Maine work with us on a composition project. In this project, children worked in a group to create sounds to accompany one of the pages of Dr. Seuss's My Many Colored Days. Children were challenged to think creatively in sound and to use their musical imaginations to help the story come to life through music. Here's the final product!

October Update

We are moving and grooving in the music room this month.  Routines are set, instruments are explored and we are ready to dig deep into how music works!

 Kindergarten musicians are...

  • exploring tempo (fast and slow)
  • continuing to work on finding singing voices
  • working on using instruments appropriately and learning to play as part of a group
  • moving their bodies in beat-ful, beautiful ways
Grade One musicians are...
  • exploring how composers use the musical opposites to create music that has both unity and variety
  • exploring how to make our singing voices sound even better
  • continuing to work on instrument technique, beat and playing one thing while saying another
Thanks for letting me spend time with your amazing young musicians.  They are a treat!
